Allsource Depot is the result of a parent’s sense of duty to leave the world a better place than we found it.
In 2004, my wife Helen and I welcomed into the world a baby boy who was born with cerebral palsy. We quickly learned that we had to use the Internet as our main source of information and as a way to connect with parents around the world going through journeys similar to ours as mothers and fathers of disabled children.
Learning through the experiences of others, it became apparent that there was a large gap between the needs of parents with disabled children and the companies that were supposed to service them. As well, we felt that Canadians have been paying altogether too much for medical devices and supplies. We built Allsource Depot to bridge that gap and to offer a better option for families that needed these products.
To accomplish this, we partnered with Bradley Cornell, a Registered Practical Nurse and the long-time owner of Ontario Patient Transfer - a medical transportation non-emergency stretcher service employing 400 employees, eighty vehicles and five offices around Ontario. With his experience working with people with disabilities, and as a parent of two boys aged 16 and 22, Brad just ‘gets it’, which is perhaps the most important qualification in this field.
Taking a holistic approach to the business, Allsource Depot employs individuals with disabilities within our sales force, actively selling our products to people with disabilities and their caregivers. The result is a situation where our staff members can better relate to our clients because, in many cases, they have first-hand knowledge of the products that we carry. As well, many clients are empowered by seeing employment opportunities in their own future as they make their purchases through our representatives.
As a parent of a little boy with cerebral palsy, it is very disheartening to see that there are not enough opportunities for independence for our children as they reach adulthood. Wanting to address this concern, we have created a partnership with a Community Living Center that will assist with the packaging, labelling and shipping of our products. We are also proud sponsors of The March of Dimes and supporters of Sunshine Foundation: Dreams for Kids.
Today, Allsource Depot is a leader in online assistive and adapted medical device sales, offering products from incontinence supplies to hospital beds. We are committed to selling high quality products at reasonable prices, saving parents, insurance providers and charities that support these families thousands of dollars on an annual basis. We have an advisory board made up of volunteers from within the special needs and medical communities to ensure we're doing everything we can to help you choose the most suitable products to assist you in your journey.
But our long-term goal remains the same – to leave the world a little better than we found it. We want for our clients the same thing that we sought out when our journey began - positive customer experiences and partnerships with those who need our services, adapting to and meeting their needs as they require additional equipment and medical products throughout their lives.
